Our Objectives and Aims We have chosen Energy… Why ? - Due to the urbanisation of Bambui, the demand of energy has increased. We want to help the community of Bambui in providing electricity and to raise awareness of different sustainable energy sources available.
Sources of Energy Wind Energy Solar Energy Hydroelectric Power Geothermal Energy Biofuel Energy
Final Decision – BioFuel AdvantagesDisadvantages Provides energy to the local communityPower plant could be very noisy Decreases overall pollutionLand may be taken from the local community Creates more jobsNot aesthetically pleasing Reliable Energy Fertiliser made Minimal carbon dioxide produced Wastes water obtained from the combustion of ethanol can be used to cool down the system so that less water has to be drawn from nearby water sources No visible smoke produced Low NOx and SOx emissions Pros and Cons
Process Rice, crops and human/animal waste Placed inside a huge container Ethanol combustion process Remaining ‘Sludge’ to be used as fertiliser Excess heat moves onto a steam turbine Normal energy harvesting method
Design Considerations Sustainability of our design Impacts to the community Cultural and social factors Community engagement Environment Cost and economic benefits Technical Design Materials Construction / Implementation and ongoing running of the program
Other things to consider Transportation of goods and waste Employees Maintenance of structural components Duration of building process Potential problems
