1 st and 2 nd Readings I will check your annotations for the 1 st and 2 nd readings of the article today. Please have them out on your desk during the class discussion.

Class Discussion What you need to do… How you need to act… O Participate 1 time by: O Asking a question O Providing an opinion on a question O Don’t forget to refer to the text! O Keep track of your partner by: O Writing their name on the front side of a half sheet of paper. O Writing if they asked a question or provided an opinion O Respond to the following on a half sheet: O What questions do you still have? O What was the most interesting idea presented? O How do you feel the discussion went? Any suggestions? O Remember: Nothing is personal. We are discussing ideas and opinions, not people! O Keep an open mind. Just because something is suggested doesn’t mean you have to agree with it, but you should think about it and accept it as an opinion held by someone. O Don’t be a discussion hog. Try to limit your participation to make sure others can participate as well. Don’t bulldoze anyone!

Before you leave… Your half sheet will be your ticket out the door today.
