Principles That Can Be Taught 1. Knowledge of content understanding of the subject area in both depth and breadth. 2. Knowledge of pedagogy (understanding how children learn, their social and emotional development, groupings, activities, and assessment)

3. Ability to think critically and reflectively –Examine their own practice. –Solve problems. –Explore ideas.

4. Ability to be a self-regulated learner Take responsibility for their knowledge and skills, set goals, monitor their progress, and continually redirect their own learning. Act 178 Act 48 Permanent certification and tenure
