2 Standard One – Knowledge of Subject Matter
Being able to understand the central concepts, tools of inquiry, and structure of the disciplines that you teach Creating learning experiences that make these aspects of the subject matter meaningful to students Ex. Content linked to students prior knowledge

3 Standard Two- Knowledge of Human Development
Understanding how children learn and develop Being able to provide learning opportunities that support their intellectual, social, and person development Ex. Knowledge of typical and atypical growth and development

4 Standard Three: Adapting Instruction for Individual Needs
Understanding how students differ in their approaches to learning Creates instructional opportunities that are adapted to diverse learners Ex. Differentiated lesson plans showing how assignments and strategies are changed or extended to meet needs of all learners

5 Standard Four- Multiple Instructional Strategies
Being able to use a variety of instructional strategies to encourage students development of critical thinking, problem solving, and performance skills Ex. Teaching centers that provide a variety of multiple instructional strategies to meet the needs of diverse learners

6 Standard Five- Classroom Motivation and Management Skills
Using a understanding of individual and group motivation and behavior to create a learning environment that encourages positive social interaction, active engagement in learning, and self-motivation Ex. Parent communication: letters, phone calls, progress reports, and notes

7 Standard Six- Communication Skills
Using knowledge of effective verbal, nonverbal, and medial communication techniques to foster active inquiry, collaboration, and supportive interaction in the classroom. Ex. Video teaching showing motivation and communication

8 Standard Seven- Instructional Planning Skills
Planning instruction based on knowledge of subject matter, students, the community, and curriculum goal Ex. Short term and long term objectives: specific outcomes for each day, week, and month.

9 Standard Eight: Assessment of Student Learning
Understanding and using formal and informal assessment strategies to evaluate and ensure the continuous intellectual, social, and physical development of the learner Ex. Standardized test and writing samples

10 Standard Nine: Professional Commitment and Responsibility
The teacher is a reflective practitioner who continually evaluates the effects of his or her choices and actions on others and who actively seeks out opportunities to grow professionally Ex. Attendance at professional meetings and presentations

11 Standard Ten: Partnerships
Fostering relationships with school colleagues, parents, and agencies in the larger community to support students learning and well being Ex. Knowledge of community agencies and parents communication
