Presentation transcript:

Warm-up (on back of handout): Why do you think many scientific names and terms are in Latin, which is a “dead language?” When you have completed your warm-up, quietly begin grading your tablemates IntNB cover page. Use the 5 point rubric in your IntNB to help. 28-Aug and 29-Aug Pick up your folder and return to your “Color Group”

Setting up your Index Take the last 13 pages of your IntNB Starting on the first of those pages, write the letter A in the center of the page. Continue to alphabetically label the top of each page, front and back, until you get to the end of the book. Make three columns on each of these pages. – The first column will be labeled “prefix/suffix/root” – The second column will be labeled “meaning” – The third column will be labeled “used in a word”

Building BIO-LOGY Words Put your card around your neck Find the definition for your prefix, suffix or root in your translation packet. When the music starts, begin mingling to find classmates who may have terms that match with yours. When you find a match, write down the joined term in the space provided, along with the meaning of that term. When the music stops, return to your seat.

With your Table Group, try to translate some bigger words Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis. Erythrocyte Electroencephalogram Schizophrenia Thermoacidophiles
