BUT EXAMINE EVERYTHING CAREFULLY; HOLD FAST TO THAT WHICH IS GOOD; ABSTAIN FROM EVERY FORM OF EVIL. “ (5:19-22) B.PAUL EXHORTS THE THESSALONIANS NOT TO BE LIKE THE GALATIAN CHRISTIANS WHOM HE HAD TO REBUKE REGARDING THE HOLY SPIRIT. “O FOOLISH GALATIANS! ii.HE EFFECTS A COMPLETE TRANSFORMATION OF OUR SPIRITUAL AFFECTIONS. “BUT A JEW IS ONE INWARDLY, AND CIRCUMCISION IS A MATTER OF THE HEART, BY THE SPIRIT, NOT BY THE LETTER. HIS PRAISE IS NOT FROM MAN BUT FROM GOD. “ (ROM. 2:29) ”THEREFORE, IF ANYONE BE IN CHRIST, HE IS A NEW CREATION: OLD THINGS ARE PASSED AWAY; BEHOLD, ALL THINGS ARE BECOME NEW. ” (2 COR. 5:17) iii.HE FREES US FROM THE SLAVERY TO HABITUAL SIN. “FOR THOSE WHO LIVE ACCORDING TO THE FLESH SET THEIR MINDS ON THE THINGS OF THE FLESH, BUT THOSE WHO LIVE ACCORDING TO THE SPIRIT SET THEIR MINDS ON THE THINGS OF THE SPIRIT. “ (ROM. 8:5) 4

iv.HE TAKES UP PERMANENT RESIDENCE WITHIN EACH ONE OF US. “EVEN THE SPIRIT OF TRUTH, WHOM THE WORLD CANNOT RECEIVE, BECAUSE IT NEITHER SEES HIM NOR KNOWS HIM.
