Presentation transcript:

Arachne’s father reported her missing late last night. He told police that he saw her last at breakfast the morning she went missing. He realized something must be wrong when he came home from work to discover a closed sign on her shop and her no where to be found! Your job, as a detective, is to investigate what has happened to Arachne. Use the map on the next page to look around the town and see if anyone in town knows where she is. Remember, a good detective finds the answers to the right questions. I will expect a full report by tomorrow! Good Luck with your investigation! Map

I saw what happened, but my mom will find out I wasn’t doing my chores! Arachne is missing? I had no idea! I hope she finished making my sweater. She’s the best in town!

I went by yesterday to watch Arachne weave the wool into threads, she got really mad because of something someone said, but I couldn’t hear… I’m sure it was nothing, she gets a little tempermental when she’s working sometimes. If you ask me I think she’s a little full of herself.

Praise Athena! Goddess of wisdom and arts!

They’re known all over town for their wool products!! They’re such a talented family! Her father dyes the wool and then she spins it into the softest thread and then makes beautiful embroidered clothing! I have to remember to get the kids the new Spiderwick book!

All I said was that Athena had to have taught her how to do such an amazing job since she is so talented at weaving! Now she’ll end up cursed like poor Sisyphus for insulting the gods!

We need to go inside and get your brother the new Spiderman action figure for his birthday! Spider mania is all over this town!

Where is Arachne? She’s never late for an appointment!

Hey Sally, did you hear about Arachne? Yeah. You know Athena did that to make a point to others! She shouldn’t have thought her talents equal to the gods!

The last time I was there watching her work, there was a strange old lady there. Someone told me that old woman was Athena in disguise! Doesn’t she work from home?

I can’t believe Arachne challenged goddess Athena! I wonder what will happen if Athena loses? Will Arachne be punished??

Arachne should never have insulted the gods, claiming to be better than them! That’s a crime the gods will punish for! Yeah! She should have totally known better! I wonder if that’s why she’s missing?

Did you see the showdown between Athena and Arachne? I heard Athena got really mad when she saw the designs Arachne was weaving! Oh! I forgot the milk! So did Arachne win or Athena? Hey There!

Do you remember what happened to the last person that insulted a god? Yeah, wasn’t he turned into a constellation?

Please Mom!! We are already late and it will spoil your supper! Get your hot dogs! Too bad what happened to Arachne, I guess she’ll be making silk products now, instead of wool!

Will you marry me, my little tulip? He’s such a dork… but he is a millionaire! Did you hear? Arachne is missing? I heard she ran away. Help! Um… yes.

Arachne sure did spin herself into a mess of trouble this time huh? Yeah a real tangled web of problems! What should I make for dinner?

Did you hear about the newest creative punishment Athena came up with? No, but I bet it was a doozy!

Ring around the rosies… So do you think she ran away or the gods gave her one of their creative punishments, like poor Cassiopeia! If she’s lucky, she got to run-away. The god’s punishments can be worse than death!

Gosh! I was sorry to hear about Arachne, I’ll miss her wool sweaters! I heard Athena allowed her to keep her skills, but now she uses six hands instead of two.
