 Genghis Khan – leader who united the Mongols; conquered vast territory (means “strong leader”)  Kublai Khan – grandson of Genghis Khan; founded Yuan Dynasty & ruled at height of power  Marco Polo – traveler from Venice, Italy; went on fact-finding trips for Kublai Khan; Wrote book about travels to China – inspired European interest in Asian goods / spices
