Dow Now: Name four countries into which the Mongol empire extended. Do you think a group of people could ever take over so much territory today? Explain.
After the death of Chinggis Khan, his children and grandchildren continued to conquer a vast empire.
A. 1279- Kublai Khan (Grandson of Genghis Khan) conquered China. B. Created the Yuan Dynasty C. Gave government jobs to Mongols and excluded Chinese(eventually rebelled against mongols)
Kublai Khan adopted many Chinese customs. He showed respect to the Chinese people and their culture.
A. Mongol leaders ruled with tolerance 1. Could live as before but had to pay tributes to the Mongols (payment to mongols)
Kublai Khan did many good things for China. He built a new capital city in Beijing. Beijing is still the capital of China today.
Many roads and highways were built by the Mongols in China.
