Presentation transcript:

Volcanoes are in different parts of the world. Some volcanoes are under the sea and some are on land. They are generally cone shape but they are sometimes other shape as well. They are large and tiny. The name volcanoes come from a Roman god called Vulcan.

What is a volcano A volcano is a hill or mountain formed by material from the mantle (mantle means: the layer of the earth between the crust and the core) being forced through an opening or vent in the Earth's crust.volcano

Why do volcanoes erupt Volcanoes erupt when the two plates under the earth push together equals an eruption when the rock gets hot an enough in a volcano equals an eruption as well.

The main features of a volcano

How many volcanoes are they in the world? They are about 1511 volcanoes in the world. Over 500 active volcanoes in the world.

What did you know about volcanoes?
