ROOM 5’s CLASSROOM PET Mrs. Orlando

ROOM 5 WILL BE GETTING A CLASS PET!!!!! As a class, we will be picking a pet, I will be going out and purchasing all necessary supplies, and we will set up the habitat.

Project Description You will be divided into groups As a group, you will decide on an animal, then you will use the computers to look up this animal. Your group will prepare a presentation, oral, poster board, props, Power Point (I will assist in setting this one up. Groups will present their animal Class will vote on which animal we will get

GOALS AND OBJECTIVES Students will learn to work together as a group to a multi step project. Students will use the internet and any resource materials they need to prepare a presentation on a selected pet. Students will learn to prepare a presentation and then present it.

Goals and Objectives continued The objective of this assignment is to come up with a classroom pet that is compatible with our classroom environment. This will be done while working as a group.

Project Activities Use the computer to look up classroom pets – gather information for Student Information Sheet. Use gathered information to prepare oral presentation. Design and prepare poster board to be used along with oral presentation.

Timelines Week one – Day 2 Groups will decide which pet they are going to present. Days 3 – 5 Students will research their chosen pet. Week two – Days 1 – 3 Groups will prepare oral presentations and design poster boards, power point presentations, or other visual means to go with oral presentation. Days 4 – 5 Groups will do their presentations for the class.

GRADING Each group will be graded on their overall project. Each member of the group will be graded on their participation and ability to be a team player and pitch in where needed.
