2 ND SEMESTER STUDENT REMINDERS WHAT EVERY STUDENT NEEDS TO KNOW

1 ST SEMESTER IS OVER... NOW THAT YOU HAVE BEEN IN YOUR 2 ND SEMESTER CLASSES FOR A COUPLE OF WEEKS, WE WANT TO BE SURE THAT ALL STUDENTS KNOW HOW TO BE SUCCESSFUL AT MATTSON MIDDLE SCHOOL. SOME OF YOU ARE NEW TO US AND HAVE NEVER HEARD OUR EXPECTATIONS… AND SOME OF YOU JUST NEED A FRIENDLY REMINDER

BACKPACKS BACKPACKS ARE NOT ALLOWED IN THE CLASSROOM YOUR BACKPACK IS TO GO INTO YOUR LOCKER BEFORE SCHOOL STARTS TAKE EVERYTHING OUT OF YOUR BACKPACK THAT YOU NEED TO ENSURE YOU’RE ON TIME TO CLASS! IF YOUR BACKPACK IS ON YOU DURING THE DAY: IT WILL EVENTUALLY BE CONFISCATED BY SECURITY OR ADMINISTRATION AND WILL BE HELD IN THE OFFICE UNTIL THE END OF THE DAY

TARDIES IF YOU ARE LATE TO CLASS: 1 ST TARDY: WARNING (FROM TEACHER) 2 ND TARDY: LUNCH DETENTION 3 RD TARDY: 2 LUNCH DETENTIONS 4 TH TARDY: AFTER SCHOOL DETENTION MORE THAN 4?: IN-SCHOOL SUSPENSION AND PROGRESSIVE DISCIPLINE

LUNCH BREAK RULES STUDENTS COME TO THE CAFETERIA AND SIT DOWN AT THE TABLE—TABLES ARE THEN DISMISSED BY NUMBERS AFTER STUDENTS GET THEIR FOOD, THEY ARE TO RETURN TO THEIR DESIGNATED TABLE AREA WHEN STUDENTS FINISH EATING, THEY ARE TO CLEAN UP AND THROW AWAY THEIR TRASH STUDENTS CAN GO OUTSIDE, STAY IN THE CAFETERIA, OR GO TO THE LIBRARY

OUTSIDE DURING LUNCH THERE IS NO FOOD OR DRINK ALLOWED OUTSIDE OF THE CAFETERIA! IF YOU ARE FOUND WITH FOOD OR DRINK OUTSIDE THE CAFETERIA, YOU WILL BE ASKED TO THROW THE ITEM AWAY OR RETURN TO THE CAFETERIA IMMEDIATELY. IF THE BEHAVIOR CONTINUES, YOU WILL BE ASSIGNED LUNCH DETENTION.

OUTSIDE DURING LUNCH STUDENTS ARE NOT TO GO BEYOND THE RED LINES OR STOP SIGNS DRAWN ON THE GROUND DURING LUNCH TIME, UNLESS THEY HAVE A PASS IF STUDENTS ARE BEYOND THE LINES WITHOUT PERMISSION, THEY WILL BE SENT BACK INTO THE CAFETERIA FOR THE REMAINDER OF LUNCH. IF THE BEHAVIOR CONTINUES, STUDENTS WILL EVENTUALLY RECEIVE A LUNCH DETENTION.

TRUANCY POLICY IF STUDENTS ARE NOT WHERE THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE FOR ANY PART OF THE DAY, THEY ARE CONSIDERED TRUANT. IF A STUDENT IS FOUND BEING TRUANT, THEY WILL IMMEDIATELY GO TO AN IN-SCHOOL SUSPENSION

PASSES OUT OF CLASS WHEN YOU ARE OUT OF THE CLASSROOM FOR ANY REASON, YOU MUST HAVE A PASS. EACH TEACHER HAS A YELLOW VEST THAT SHOULD BE WORN BY STUDENTS WHO ARE OUT OF CLASS GOING TO THE RESTROOM GOING TO YOUR LOCKER GOING TO THE LIBRARY IF YOU ARE CALLED OUT OF THE CLASSROOM BY SOMEONE IN THE OFFICE, YOU WILL RECEIVE AN ORANGE NOTE—THIS NOTE IS CONSIDERED YOUR PASS IF YOU ARE OUT OF CLASS WITHOUT A PASS, YOU ARE TECHNICALLY TRUANT AT THAT TIME, YOU WILL BE SENT BACK TO CLASS IF THE BEHAVIOR CONTINUES TO BE AN ISSUE, DISCIPLINE WILL BE GIVEN

DRESS CODE DRESS CODE APPLIES TO BOTH THE LADIES AND GENTLEMEN AT MATTSON MIDDLE SCHOOL: NO BARE MIDRIFFS OR SHOWING OF UNDER GARMENT ATTIRE NO BLANKETS HOODS ARE NOT TO BE WORN ON CAMPUS NO HOUSE SLIPPERS NO BANDANAS SKIRTS/SHORTS MUST BE FINGERTIP LENGTH TANK TOPS MUST MEASURE 3 FINGERS NO CLOTHING THAT PROMOTES DRUGS/SEX/TOBACCO/ALCOHOL/GANG AFFILIATION/WEAPONS/NEGATIVITY

DRESS CODE IF YOU ARE NOT DRESS IN ACCORDANCE TO OUR DRESS CODE POLICY, YOU WILL BE ASKED TO CHANGE INTO SOMETHING ELSE OR YOUR PE UNIFORM IF YOU DO NOT HAVE ANYTHING TO CHANGE INTO, YOU WILL BE GIVEN AN EXTRA PE UNIFORM TO CHANGE INTO YOU MAY CONTACT SOMEONE TO BRING YOU CLOTHING, BUT YOU WILL WEAR THE ALTERNATE CLOTHING UNTIL SOMEONE ARRIVES IF YOU REFUSE TO CHANGE, YOU WILL BE PLACED IN ISS

HAT POLICY STUDENTS ARE ALLOWED TO WEAR HATS WHILE THEY ARE ON SCHOOL PREMISES HOWEVER, STUDENTS MUST FOLLOW CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS. IF A TEACHER ASKS THAT ANY HEADGEAR BE REMOVED, STUDENTS MUST COMPLY

ELECTRONIC DEVICES STUDENTS ARE ALLOWED TO UTILIZE THEIR ELECTRONIC DEVICES (CELL PHONES/IPODS/MP3/ETC.) DURING THE FOLLOWING TIMES ONLY: 30 MINUTE LUNCH TIME 5 MINUTE PASSING PERIODS

ELECTRONIC DEVICES IF A STUDENT IS USING AN ELECTRONIC DEVICE (WITHOUT TEACHER PERMISSION) DURING THE CLASS PERIOD, THE TEACHER WILL CONFISCATE THE PHONE AND TURN IT INTO THE OFFICE: 1 ST OFFENSE: STUDENT SIGNS THE PHONE OUT AFTER SCHOOL 2 ND OFFENSE: PARENT MUST COME PICK UP THE PHONE AFTER SCHOOL 3 RD OFFENSE: PARENT MEETING WITH THE PRINCIPAL OR VICE PRINCIPAL

KSD COMPUTERS THE COMPUTERS YOU ARE GIVEN AT THE BEGINNING OF THE YEAR BELONG TO THE KENT SCHOOL DISTRICT AND MAY BE TAKEN FROM YOU AT ANY TIME TO BE CHECKED FOR COMPLIANCE IF A STUDENT IS USING THE COMPUTER INAPPROPRIATELY, THE STUDENT WILL BE ISSUED A TECH VIOLATION REFERRAL AND DISCIPLINE WILL BE GIVEN IF A STUDENT CONTINUES TO HAVE ISSUES USING THE COMPUTER PROPERLY, IT CAN RESULT IN THE COMPUTER BEING REMOVED PERMANENTLY FROM THEIR USE

IN-SCHOOL OR OUT OF SCHOOL SUSPENSIONS IF A STUDENT IS GIVEN AN ISS OR OSS, THE STUDENT IS NOT ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE IN OR ATTEND AFTER SCHOOL ACTIVITIES DURING THE TIME OF THEIR SUSPENSION: DANCES GAMES CLUBS MUSIC CONCERTS (CHOIR/BAND/ORCHESTRA) THE SUSPENDED STUDENT IS ALSO NOT ALLOWED TO BE ON CAMPUS AT ANY TIME DURING THE TIME OF THE SUSPENSION, UNLESS PERMISSION FROM THE PRINCIPAL/VICE PRINCIPAL IS GIVEN
