Underwater Landscapes

Learning Goals Students will understand and be able to use SPACE in their art. Students will be able to use digital media to create art. Students will be able to use layers in their digital art.

Day 1 task Use torn paper to create a collage of ocean colors. Do not glue it down. Arrange with light colors towards the top and dark colors towards the bottom. Use the camera on the iPad to photograph the collage. Open Artrage and import the collage. Then use the palette tool to blend colors as much as desired. Add plant life with other tools such as the pen set to 100% taper length. This is the BACKGROUND.

Day 2 task Create a NEW LAYER to draw MIDDLE GROUND objects on. Use a variety of tools to create additional plant life, coral, and sea life.

Day 3 task Create a third NEW LAYER and draw one sea animal on it. DUPLICATE the layer that the sea life is drawn on. TRANSFORM the new layer to create SPACE (small shapes in back, larger ones in front, and overlapping) Repeat the process to create more sea life.
