You have all some how been transported back in time. A time where the Black Death stalked every door step. People thought trade was the best thing that had happened. They had new luxuries they never could have imagined. Little did they know trading with new lands could bring such devastation to the population of mankind. The bubonic plague had come to Europe from trading with China. Infected rats brought it into the flourishing cities of trade and gave it to the people. And guess who is stuck in the middle of it all? You and your classmates! Do you have what it takes to survive? Can you find out all the information you need before time run out for you too?

TASK In order to leave Europe, you and your classmates must find specific information and compile it into a book. It is the key for survival. Once all the proper information is in the book, you will be able to return home and resume the beautiful lives you all have! What does the book need to contain?

Process Overview First each person must choose one item to retrieve for the book. Click on the links below to bring you to the correct slide to help you find the information each one of you needs and will give you details on exactly what needs to be done – Definitions Definitions – Places and People Places and People – Facts Facts Back to the task Information the book needs

Information that needs to be placed in the book: A detailed definition of the bubonic plague and epidemic/pandemic A list of areas that were affected including the number of people that died. Also answer: why the plague happened? 8 facts about the bubonic plague How are you going to do it all?

What is bubonic plague? What is an epidemic? Read through the information on the websites and then watch the video Next open MS Word and write one paragraph describing each definition. Finally print what you have written and add it to the book These links and video will help you: / / Task

Oh the Destruction! Look through the following sites and watch the video to find out the areas and number of people that were affected by the plague! Open MS PowerPoint and create a slide show (4 slides) using this information. Print out the slides and add them to the book. Task

Facts Use the information from the following sites to create your own facts. Use MS Word to type the facts and print them out to add to the book. There must be at least 8. Task diseases/plague-article/

Evaluation Then all the information must be placed into the book in the order it was given Next you will give the book a title and each group member will sign the last page Finally the book will be read out loud to the class.
