Presentation transcript:

(a) For a country you have studied, explain the measures it has taken to control its birth rates (b) Explain the effects an ageing population has on a country and with reference to a country you have studied outline policies the country has introduced to limit this problem

(a)Describe the ways in which countries can obtain accurate population data. (3) (b) Explain (i) why ELDCs (Economically Less Developed Countries) may find the collection of such data more difficult, and (ii) why the quality of data obtained may be less reliable than that gathered in an EMDC (Economically More Developed Country). 6

“ Apart from 1941, during the Second World War, the UK has carried out a census every 10 years since 1801.” (a)Describe how the UK gathers population data between these censuses and explain why it is important for countries to obtain accurate population data. (5) (b) Giving named examples, explain why carrying out a census may be more difficult and the results less reliable in Developing Countries than in Developed Countries such as the UK. (9)

(a) Many people in the last 50 years have migrated from Less Economically Developed Countries to More Economically Developed Countries. For one country you have studied describe the social and economic factors which led to a migrant moving to the rich country. (b) When groups of people move huge distances from one country to another there are usually several PUSH and PULL factors involved. Using countries you have studied give details of TWO PUSH and TWO PULL factors. (c) Explain why the increase in the size of the European Union is likely to lead to more migration in the coming years. Migration
