Find synergies in our communities & identify new products and services. Create draft matrix with point products and services grouped by technical topics. (Jack Cole/Staff) Solicit input from volunteers (TC & conference chairs, pubs editors, newsletter editors…)

9-Mar-054 IEEE Computer Society SAB/CS ExCom SP-5 Report Goal 3 Develop a forward looking customer model Identify & nurture emerging standards Identify opportunities to leverage relationships with other standards organizations Explore processes for taking positions in other standards organizations Define the value of standards and participation in their development

9-Mar-055 IEEE Computer Society SAB/CS ExCom SP-5 Report Goal 4 Build an effective infrastructure (content, tools, process) Promote openness through enhanced communications: Minimum set of criteria for Sponsor Web presence. Open up direct channels to Technical Committees. Evaluate rights and usage issues associated with software standards. Investigate free use of imbedded specifications.

Assist sponsors in their transition to new procedures. New policies for alignment with IEEE-CS SP5. Emphasis on inter-group coordination and planning.

9-Mar-057 IEEE Computer Society SAB/CS ExCom SP-5 Report Goals for ’05 - Summary Find synergies in our communities & identify new products and services, develop policies for intergroup cooperation (Jack Cole) Identify and solicit new standards communities (All) Explore and define opportunities to create standards-centered services and new guidance models (Harauz) Consolidate and present unified web presence touting the why and how of standards participation. (Lohr/Sponsors/PIF)

9-Mar-058 IEEE Computer Society SAB/CS ExCom SP-5 Report Goals for ’05 – Cont’d Develop SAB recommendation(s) to IEEE SA in support of IP rights associated with standards (Robson/Wright) Identify and court relationships with other standards organizations (Moore/Wright) P&P – define type of sponsor, SAB sponsored P&P, and new policies in support of SP5 (Robson)
