Standards Portfolio Review One third of standards development projects Recommended criteria to be coordinated with Planning Committee Possible opportunities for new standards emerging from review

Goals for 2016 Goal #1 - Develop standards and framework models for emerging technologies and cross disciplinary sciences Goal #2 – Create a standards education portfolio and be the leading society in the delivery of standards-related professional education Goal #3 – Make Computer Society standards the most used standards in industry and government

Standards Portfolio Review – Subtasks List the Standards Development Committees Cite the total standards portfolio (number by SC)

Standards Portfolio Review Metrics Candidate Metrics for the Review –Activity level  Number of working group members  Frequency of standards revisions –Relevance of standard –Number of standards sold/downloads  Usage by industry

Goal #1 – Subtasks Goal #1 - Develop standards and framework models for emerging technologies and cross disciplinary sciences Identify potential new standards and framework models using sources such as: –IEEE Technical Committees –IEEE Future Direction Initiatives –CS 2022 Report Launch new standards projects and initiate special ad hoc committees to form active working groups for standards areas Approve PARs for new standards projects

Goal #1 – Metrics and Traceability Candidate Metrics for New Standards –# of potential technology areas for standardization or framework model development –# of ad hoc committees formed to investigate and promote standards working groups –# of PARs approved SP8 Traceability –Address new fields per SP8.2.2 –Address new technologies per SP8.2.4

Goal #2 – Subtasks Goal #2 – Create a standards education portfolio and be the leading society in the delivery of standards-related professional education Coordinate with other CS entities –Professional & Educational Activities Board –Technical and Conference Activities Board –Publications Develop and present standards seminars Write and present/publish standards-related tutorials, papers, and books –for example, Walrad’s IEEE Computer “Standards” column Develop and offer standards-related webinars

Goal #2 – Metrics and Traceability Candidate Metrics for Professional Education –# of standards seminars offered –# of guidance documents (tutorials, papers, books) published –# of webinars presented SP8 Traceability –Deliver high-quality professional education per SP8.3 –Increase the reach of published standards per SP8.3.2

Goal #3 – Subtasks Goal #3 – Make Computer Society standards the most used standards in industry and government Coordinate with IEEE, IEEE CS, and SA Contact companies/agencies that might use CS standards as a supplier Contact companies/agencies that might use CS standards as a customer (require standards compliance by their suppliers)

Goal #3 – Metrics and Traceability Candidate Metrics for Standards Use –# of contacts with potential users or imposers of CS standards –# of RFPs that recommend or require CS standards –# of downloads of CS standards from IEEE websites SP8 Traceability –Increase the impact of published standards per SP8.2.1
