Comparatives and Superlatives Comparatives= When you are comparing two things, usually end with –er Which country is larger, Canada or China? Canada is larger than China.

Comparatives= More Examples While most comparatives end in –er, there are some exceptions: When there are more than two syllables, you have to say “more” Examples: More beautiful, more famous

Superlatives Superlatives= When you are comparing more than two things at the same time. Which city has the largest population: Tokyo, Mexico City, or Sao Paulo? Tokyo has the largest population of the three.

More Examples of Superlatives Like comparatives, if the word has more than two syllables, you need to add “the most” Example: What is the most beautiful mountain in the world? I think Mount Fuji is the most beautiful.
