This is the draft map prepared by Commission staff prior to the Banning Ranch site tour held on 6/11/14. The map depicts areas of sensitive vegetation, vernal pools, seasonal wetlands and areas of special status wildlife.

Map of all active and idle wells on Banning Ranch including those permitted by the 1973 Resolution of Exemption (yellow), and those drilled since 1973 outside of the Resolution of Exemption (orange). Map does not depict abandoned wells. = Permitted active and idle wells = Unpermitted active and idle wells

Areas of major vegetation removal on Banning Ranch. While some minor vegetation clearance (not depicted) occurs near active and idle wells, pipelines and other facilities, most of the major vegetation removal occurs in areas where there are no active oil operations and in areas far away from nearby homes. Map does not depict abandoned wells. = 100 ft. fire buffer ordered by OC Fire Authority = Areas of major vegetation removal = Permitted active and idle wells = Unpermitted active and idle wells

1776. Well Site and Lease Restoration. (a) In conjunction with well plugging and abandonment operations, any auxiliary holes, such as rat holes, shall be filled with earth and compacted properly; all construction materials, cellars, production pads, and piers shall be removed and the resulting excavations filled with earth and compacted properly to prevent settling; well locations shall be graded and cleared of equipment, trash, or other waste materials, and returned to as near a natural state as practicable. Well site restoration must be completed within 60 days following plugging and abandonment of the well.
