Mandate The HSI Section is responsible for: Theoretical, numerical and experimental studies of incoherent linear and non-linear multi-particle effects (e.g. space-charge, beam-beam and intra-beam scattering) affecting the performance of present and future CERN hadron synchrotrons and of their mitigation. Development of luminosity models for CERN present and future hadron colliders based on simulations and measurements including all the underlying effects. Development and maintenance of the numerical codes and modules describing multi-particle incoherent linear and non-linear effects (e.g. pyORBIT, MADX-SC, SixTrack beam-beam module), including the follow-up of associated computing resources’ needs. The HSI Section contributes to machine coordination and beam physics support for commissioning and operation (e.g., parameter definition, strategy, measurement procedures) of CERN hadron synchrotrons. It contributes to the coordination of the machine studies for the LHC injectors’ complex

Organisation Two study/working groups  Space-charge study group (F.Schmidt), 14:00  Beam-beam and luminosity working group (Y.Papaphilippou), 16:00 Group members contribute to LEIR, PSB, PS, SPS and LHC studies (and operation), LIU and HL-LHC projects, CLIC and FCC studies
