What is this about? Public ENUM is the protocols, policies and administrative procedures surrounding the various trees in e164.arpa as defined in RFC 3761 Public ENUM defines the use of the DNS to map E.164 numbers to URI’s The use of the DNS assumes, by definition, all data within ENUM is open to all internet users “phone number in URI out” Scott Petrack former ENUM chair.

Carrier ENUM STOP CALLING IT ENUM !!! It is the problem statement that postulates service providers may require telephone number to URI databases in order to facilitate various forms of inter-carrier interconnections. The data may (probably) be private or non visible to the global internet and would require AA to access.

The Task We will not attempt to define any technical solutions in this session. Focus on the “problem statement” Focus on an analysis of requirements 1. What are the issues/problems that need to be addressed? 2. What are the requirements that solve them? Everything else is out of scope.
