How safe are our journeys to school?

In this lesson, you will learn: How to collect and record evidence (1c) To use appropriate fieldwork techniques and instruments (2b) To use maps and plans at a range of scales (2c) How to carry out fieldwork investigations outside the classroom (7c)

By the end of this lesson, you should be able to: Collect and record evidence accurately using appropriate techniques and equipment outside the classroom. Use maps for navigation and to accurately place appropriate information.

What you need to do; a reminder Collect data and information (such as field sketches, photographs, observations about hazards, traffic counts, etc.) around the school that identifies places where problems occur or are likely to occur e.g. cars parked on pavements, too many cars, cars travelling too fast, pavements too narrow, no cycle path, etc. Make sure that you know the location of each piece of data or information by linking it to the map. What you might produce next lesson (Word example; Powerpoint example)WordPowerpoint

Plenary What went well? What problems did you encounter have? How could you have better gathered the data and information?
