Microsoft Word Training J. Swertner, Jaskiran Bahra, Andrew Hwang, Joshua Levine English 393

Audience This site is written in such a way that it can be productively utilized by those new to MS Word, and users who have recently upgraded to MS Word 2007.

Format The index page lists five lessons for learning how to use MS Word Under each lesson there are bulleted links for easy navigation to each topic. The lessons and link topics build on the information from the previous one and are very well organized. Each link leads to a paragraph with descriptions and numbered steps for functions, and there are screen shots included for clarification. There are too many advertisements on the pages, and this is somewhat distracting.

Format (cont.) The author uses screen shots from MS Word to help readers understand better. Not only are there clear directions, but there are also pictures to ensure that readers are following along properly.

Tone The instructions are very clear and user friendly. There are no references made using computer jargon that might not be familiar to beginner users. Any questionable terms are clearly defined using text or screen shots.

Directions The directions are presented in a clear well organized manner. The writer has paid particular attention to detail and has not left out any steps.

Going Through Lesson One Lesson one is very important to a beginner. It clearly explains each button on a blank MS word screen. Each step is presented in a logical order and flows smoothly. The pop up advertisements are the only downfall to this site.

Lesson 1: The Ribbon

Points To Remember This site exemplified a well thought out set of instructions. Seemingly the most basic steps were pointed out and explained clearly. The points were presented in a very organized manner and were conducive to logical learning.
