ANALYSIS OF OPENING TITLE SEQUENCES… Jack McFarlaneVarndean college

Titles used …  The tiles used for this film are very plain and simple, the titles fade in and out one after each other, so you can read one at a time but by the time of the first one going the second one has faded it to leave no gaps. The main title of Bullet boy is bold and stand out well, the title is black with a white background that Fades in. There is no video be hide the title to make it stand out more and the letters are in caps which make it easier to read.  The sound track starts from the beginning with a background noise of cars on a motorway, the music gets a sudden load burst as the main title comes on screen.

Mise en scene  The first scene is of a young boy with a touch he looks very confined and you can hear the sound of cars in the background of the music so this lends you to think he could be in a boot of a car.  The setting of a young boy in a car is normally see as very bad because no one should be in the boot because its un safe, it gives you a sense of unknowing because you don’t know why he’s in the boot and where's he’s going or how long he's been in there. This kind of thrilling situation strongly indicates it’s a thriller genre.  The first scene tells us that the character seems to be in a boot of a car, and is looking worried, but you only see him for a short time because he shines the touch into the camera then the main title comes ups but over all the first scene is putting the character in a very thrilling situation.

 the narrative is introduced with a fading shot into a dark space with a lit up face, the touch being the source of light. Then the light blurs out the shot into white and the title appears.  the thrilling atmosphere is made though the low levels of light with a shaky camera and kid holding a torch lying down looking uneasy it makes you think straight away something bad has happened and creates the scene for a typical thriller film.

Screen shot comments The first screen shot is a close up of someone in the boot of a car, after a while you start to realise that it’s a child with a touch, this shot has been done using the rule of thirds so they can place the titles in a place easy to read. The second shot is of the title and this fades in and out The third shot is a long/mid shot of someone in a room but the glass is translucent so you can see there is somebody in there but you don’t know who, also because its focused on the glass so the main character id hidden. The next shot is the same as the last but the depth of field changes and focuses on the person in the room. The fifth shot is mid shot of a police woman opening the door to this room, this is when you see who's in the room and are introduced to the main character. You also find out that he’s in a police station prison cell. The next shot is the same but it’s the main character walking up to the camera at the front desk, this is when you get to see his face close up. The sevenths frame is an example of shot revers shot and is the police man at the desk talking with the main character, this then carries on for the next two shots and are all close up shots of the two character talking.

Sound track…  The sound track for the opening of this films starts at the beginning of the first shot and get louder when the blast of light fades in with the title, this makes the audience pay more attention and means that what's happening next is important because it’s the start of the movie. The music its self is quite a thrilling sound and fits in well with the shots taken.  There are sound effect of car on a bust motor way in the fisrt scene with the boy in the car, these sound effects are just as loud as the music but fade out as the scene changes.  The dialogue is serious because they are in a prison but the main charters has a strong London accent, this gives you an idea that he's in there for something gang related.
