Cherokee Animal Dances  Animal Dances – Performed by ALL Native Americans (depends on location and culture)  Success in hunting, seeking aid from the animal spirit (healing, rain, etc.), honor animal, thank animal for aid or use.  Bear Dance – Revered for strength and power, closely related to humans (in shape and caring for young)  *Duck Dance – Honored for helping the First Man build mountains -Used both seriously and as entertainment for children!  *Raccoon Dance – “Another one of grandma's games to keep the children occupied at family gatherings” (may have been from a mix of cultures due to intermarriages) *Do these remind you of anything??
