2. Name Meaning ~ Shawnee means southerner ~ Southerner is a native or inhabitant of the south (especially the U.S.)

3. Clothing ~ The woman wore skirts with leggings ~ The men wore breechclouts and leggings ~ Their clothing was made of skin of the animals they hunted ~ Neither of them wore shirts ~ For there feet they wore moccasins

4. Food ~ The men hunted deer, turkey, and fish ~ They made soup, cornbread, and stew ~ The woman planted corn and squash

5. Tools ~ They made bows, arrows, stone tomahawks, and spears that they used for mostly hunting ~ They also made nets for fishermen to catch fish

6. Housing ~ The Shawnee lived in round dome shaped wigwams made out of tree bark, tree saplings, cattails, and thick brush grass ~ Usually is 8-10 feet tall

7. Arts and Crafts ~ The Shawnee were known for their bead work, pottery, wood carving, and they crafted wampum ~ They created designs and pictures to show their culture ~ The Shawnee made canoes out of tree bark
