Frederic Chopin A Short History by John Neavear

Frederic Chopin was one of the best pianist of the 19 th century. A composer of the romantic period, his contemporaries included Franz Liszt and Robert Schumann. Called “The Poet of the Piano” his pieces full of expression and beauty surpassed those of anyone else in his day.

Although he is considered by many as a French composer, Chopin was born in Zelazowa Wola, Poland in He started his piano studies at the age of six and at seven he was already composing and playing in the homes of wealthy Polish citizens.
