 Electronic Data Interchange – SMK Dagang Net was developed in 1995 both by EDIM (M) Sdn.Bhd. And the Royal Custom and Excise Department Malaysia  Such development was necessary in line with the global IT transaction/activities that are taking place in most parts of the world.  The introduction of EDI SMK Dagang Net in processing customs clearance has definitely reduced the tremendous paper transactions amongst the forwarding/commercial fraternities in this country and also the implementation of Electronic Fund Transfer has basically reduced the risk of cash transactions and allow payments to be effected electronically 2 EDI SMK DAGANG NET

3 What is EDI ???  EDI is the electronic data interchange of business documents and information in a standardized format between computers, usually of different organizations

4 Who Should use EDI ??  Organizations that would like to improve their business effectiveness, efficiency and productivity  Manufacturers / Distributers / Retailers / Bank and Financial Institutions / Insurance Companies / Transportation and Logistics Companies etc….

Structure the transaction or message data  Data being exchange is in a process-able form  Data being received must be capable of being processed directly by the receiving computer without (or minimal) the need for human intervention
