INTRODUCTION In Rwanda, companies involved in international trade have to regularly prepare and submit large volumes of information and documents to government authorities to comply with import, export and transit- related regulatory requirements Rwanda Revenue Authority Rwanda Bureau of Standards Warehouse Operators Transporters Importers / Exporters Other Control Agencies Banks Clearing Agencies Freight Forwarders

5. INTRODUCTION (CONT..) One approach to address this issue is the establishment of a Single Window whereby trade related information and/or documents can be submitted once at a single entry point.

6. WHAT IS SINGLE WINDOW? Single Window is a procedure that allows parties involved in trade and transport to lodge standardized information and documents with a single entry point to fulfill all import, export, and transit-related regulatory requirements. A Trader or Agent submits all information required for clearance once to the single window service Responses from various authorities and financial institutions are returned to trader or agent. The final response is provided Rwanda Revenue Authority Rwanda Bureau of Standards Other Control Agencies Warehouse Operators Banks Select, sort, filter information, routes it to targeted recipients ( agencies, bank,etc.) in the proper sequence or flow and returns responses to trader
