Have you read a STAR book yet? Remember, you need to read your book carefully before you take an AR test… If you think you are ready to take an AR test! Let’s begin!

When you go to your student computer, look for the AR student icon on the screen. Once you find it…click on the icon to open the Accelerated Reader program. Accelerated Reader Icon

When you click on the Accelerated Reader icon, click somewhere on the screen to begin the search for your class and book test. Click anywhere to begin.

After clicking on the screen, a box will open with a list of grades and teacher names. Choose your teacher’s name and click the log in button. Do you see your teachers name in the list? Log In Button

A list of the students from your class will show up. Find your name on the list and click on it. Then, click the log in button and put your password in the box that appears. The password is your initials. Initials go here. Make sure you have clicked on your name!

Once you have typed your initials in the password box, the take reading quiz page will appear. Click on the top button, Take Reading Quiz to begin searching for your book’s test. Click on top button.

Now the list of book tests will appear. You can scroll down the list to find your test or you can use a shortcut option. Click on the arrow to have the page scroll down to look for your book title…or click on the next page arrow to learn about a shortcut to finding your book's test.

Shortcut to finding your book test…using the keyboard, begin typing the first word in the title. When you start typing, the find box will magically appear. Do not type the words… the, an, or a. These words are usually not helpful in locating the book tests. Search box

After typing the first word, click okay and a list of books with the title word will show up. Using the down arrow key on the keyboard, look carefully for the title of the book you want to test on. Book title result.

Once you find the book title of your book on the list, click the take test button to begin the final steps needed for you to take the book test. Take Quiz Button Click book quiz you want to take…

A box will appear asking how you read the book…by yourself, with a friend, or the book was read to you. Choose your answer and click the OK button to begin taking your test. Click OK to begin test. Some read this book to me. Someone read this book with me. I read this book by myself.

As a last chance to change the test you are going to take, a box will pop up and ask are you sure you really want to take the test. If you chose the wrong test or have decided to not take the test, click no. If you are ready to take the test, then click yes.

Once you click yes…the test will begin…carefully read and answer the questions. You cannot go back to a question once you have click the next question button. Next Does the answer make sense? Do not push the next button if I am not sure!

At the end of the test, a box will appear with your score. Click the okay button for the test results to be printed for your teacher.

Finally, if you miss any question on the test, you will have the chance to review your wrong answers. Click yes and you will be taken through your test answers that were incorrect.

Now you are ready to begin taking Accelerated Reader tests on books found in your classroom and the SPCS Media Center. Click the icon and begin the fun!
