Statement Finding pregnant teens is easier than ever with a rate of 3 in 10 women getting pregnant before the age of 20. The fight against teen pregnancy is a hard one, but it is thought to be won over by different types of prevention and education (3). The National Campaign is working to help stop the health and social problems caused by teen pregnancy (5). They also work hand in hand with the group StayTeen. Helping educate the young life about the over 2,000 teens getting pregnant everyday (4). Help stop the fight and learn more!

Interview with Teens Q: Would you want to have a baby now? Why or why not? A: No way! I want to get an education first, and grow myself first before having a kid. Q: How many people do you know that are teen moms? A: Probably over 10 girls in my high school had babies before they graduated. Q: What do you think would be the hardest part about being a teen parent? A: Not having enough money. Kids are expensive, and you still have to take care of yourself.

Becoming pregnant not only brings an adolescent life into the world, but takes yours away.

Some males feel as though teen pregnancy is a female problem Some males feel as though teen pregnancy is a female problem. It will also effect them and take as much effort to be a good father. The few males that do take responsibility lose a great deal of social flexibility as well.

Balancing high school and a child is beyond difficult. (1) This particular teen had no help from the father, or her family, which is not uncommon in teen pregnancies.

The experience starts of expensive and doesn’t get any cheaper. The average baby needs a diaper change 10 to 12 times a day (2).

Interview with Teen Moms Q: What was your first thought when you found out you were pregnant? A: I was scared to tell my parents, I didn’t want them to be disappointed. Q: What’s your biggest difficulty as a teen mom? A: I’ve lost a lot of my friends, because I just don’t have time for them anymore. I also hardly ever get a full night sleep. Q: How is your relationship with the father of your baby? A: He left me a while after he found out I was pregnant. After that I wanted to back out, but it was too late.

Help Prevent Teen Pregnancy There are different ways to prevent pregnancy, not only abstinence from sex, but contraceptives, and communication with family, friends, and doctors. Talking frequently opens the eyes of teens, its not just one conversation (6). Visit www.stayteen.org to learn more, and help the fight against teen pregnancy (4)!
