Presentation transcript:

Global warming... it’s so uncool man! By: Maggie Murphy

Definition & Types The gradual increase in overall temperature of earth’s atmosphere Solar (Great… what gives us light!) Human (Emissions are bad!)

Location Haiti Japan United States Everywhere  (GLOBAL warming)

Pollution causes Any unnecessary emissions… Cars Trucks Factories Businesses Example that’s close to home… the factories in Clinton lead to gross smells, sights, and global warming!

Environmental consequences Ice is melting (mostly at the poles) Species are near extinction Risen sea levels Floods and droughts become more common and stronger Less fresh water available

Resource uses or pollution conservation efforts Drive less, carpool more! (less emissions!) Recycle more Avoid lots of packaging (all that ends up in landfill sites, and pollute the environment)

Costs Rising sea levels (floods) Hundreds or even thousands Droughts/ Wildfires- Varies Gas prices increase to protect the environment

Applicable legislation Clean Air Act (CAA)- October 20 th, 1999 Climate Change Act (to set a target for the year 2050 for the reduction of targeted greenhouse gas emissions) Ozone protection Act 1989 Greenhouse Gas Management Act 1990

Extra facts Possibly the greatest challenge facing the world over the 21 st century Nations leaders meet at a Convention on Climate Change The earths temperature has increased 0.8 degrees Celsius over the past century America produces 25% of the carbon dioxide pollution

 links  cites from-climate-change from-climate-change warming/ warming/

Video This video may seem a little goofy, but it shows what harmful emissions do to us and if we don’t take caution our planet will become unbearable!
