Motivation & Research Problem MOTIVATION The amount of data is growing rapidly in the modern society. The enterprises face more and more pressure to manage the data so that it creates value. This also calls for more effective data quality management. The effective data quality management can only be ensured with effective set of controls which are studied in this thesis. RESEARCH PROBLEM The research problem of this thesis is to construct a theoretical control framework for the existing theoretical Corporate Data Quality (CDQ) Management framework by using existing control frameworks such as COBIT 5 and ITIL. The aim is to research how CDQ Framework should be controlled and what are the most optimal controls. 11/5/ M.Sc. Thesis Presentation

Research Questions How can corporate data quality be ensured with controls? What is the theoretical set of controls that ensures the appropriate level of CDQ? 3

Motivation & Research Problem 11/5/ M.Sc. Thesis Presentation CDQ FRAMEWORK CDQ CONTROL FRAMEWORK

Theory / literature used There is a lot of material written on Data Quality Management and different frameworks and they are often carried out as theoretical studies. Various academic, expert, and corporate institutions have produced material on control frameworks like COBIT 5 and ITIL. No studies that would combine these two into data quality management control framework which is what I aim to do in this research. 11/5/ M.Sc. Thesis Presentation

Aims of this study Map out the current framework of corporate data quality management and its current trends and future development Map out the relevant control objectives and guidelines in large frameworks, find development points of them and compare them to corporate data quality management framework Construct a theoretical data quality management control set 11/5/ M.Sc. Thesis Presentation

Methods & Data Research methods is systematic literature review and interviews Considerable amount of literature Interviews from experts 11/5/ M.Sc. Thesis Presentation
