Presentation transcript:

Understanding and Discovering Life Purpose THE SOBER MAN: By: Gideon Gichamba

Introduction:  According to Will Edwards, the founder of White Dove Books, there are two school thoughts on Purpose: 1) Those who believe that purpose is God-given and must be lived by all mean for one to experience true happiness 2) Those who believe that, ‘our graph has not been drawn’ and that we can choose to be anything we want to be in life

Introduction:  He further argues that, we have three categories of people as far as Purpose is concerned  Those who are living in their purpose and are happy about it.  Those who don’t care whether they have a purpose or not but they live their lives by doing the things they feel drawn towards  Those who know they have a purpose, they have not discovered it yet but they are striving towards it.

Introduction:  According to the Late Dr. Myles; commonly referred to as “The Apostle of Purpose” He says that. Where purpose is not known, Abuse is inevitable.  According to dictionary meaning: Purpose is the original intent for something  We read the Bible we realize that God created man with (an original intent)-Purpose

Introduction:  The solid truth is that God created us for a specific assignment that is why He has given us the SHAPE, we have because its only us who can fulfill that assignment

Focus on John the Baptist : John 1  He had a clear purpose was well known to Him- John 1:31 I myself did not know him, but for this purpose I came baptizing with water, that he might be revealed to Israel.”  He could easily describe himself, in a statement(purpose statement)- John 1:23 He said, “I am the voice of one crying out in the wilderness, ‘Make straight the way of the Lord,’ as the prophet Isaiah said.”  His Vision and Purpose was not popular, to His society -Mark 1:6 Now John was clothed with camel's hair and wore a leather belt around his waist and ate locusts and wild honey.

Critical lessons: John the Baptist  As Fathers, We have a responsibility of shaping our children’s visions-Zachariah, knew very well what will become of John  Vision and Purpose comes from God since He is the creator; where our fathers didn’t introduce us to purpose, we still got God the Father  We ought to have a statement that well describes us and our purpose on earth  We are in competition with no one, only our purpose

7 Principles of Purpose-Dr. Myles 1) God is a God of purpose. 2) God created everything with a purpose. 3) Not every purpose is known to us because we have lost our understanding of God‘s original intent for us. 4) Where purpose is not known, abuse is inevitable. 5) To discover the purpose of something, never ask the creation; ask the creator. 6) We find our purpose only in the mind of our Maker. 7) God‘s purpose is the key to our fulfillment.

Analyzing Purpose: With every purpose, you need: 1) A passion for it. (Your passions) 2) A commitment to it. (Things Important to you) 3) A tangible way to share it with the world. (Activities you love to do) 4) The ability to do it well. (Your natural talents)

Analyzing Purpose THINGS I LOVE TO DO- TOPICS I’M PASSIONATE ABOUT I’M NATURALLY GOOD AT THINGS OF IMPORTANCE activities like cooking, reading, singing Topics like health, education, technology List all of your best talents, skills and experience. World events, situations, groups, causes, people, animals and more that are important to you. Focus on the world generally not your own life Fill in the grid and share it with your Neighbor; Compare similarities with your SHAPE

The Way Forward Towards Soberness  Prov 19:21 Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the LORD that will stand.  I Surrender to the will of God in my life; Make known your purpose for my life in Jesus Name

Thank you
