4 John declared the truth about God
John said to the crowds.. "You brood of vipers!” Luke 3:7a .. John rebuked Herod the tetrarch.. Herod.. locked John up in prison John 3:19-20

5 John demonstrated that his life was all about Jesus
“I am not the Christ but am sent ahead of him.” John 3:28b “He is the one who comes after me, the thongs of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie.” John 1:27 “A man who comes after me has surpassed me because he was before me.. the reason I came.. was that he might be revealed to Israel.” John 1:30-31 3.

6 John was determined Zechariah was filled with the Holy Spirit.. “And you, my child, will be called a prophet of the Most High; for you will go on before the Lord to prepare the way for him”…And the child grew and became strong in spirit.. Luke 1:67-80

7 John doubted "Are you the one who was to come, or should we expect someone else?" Matthew 11:3 “I tell you the truth: Among those born of women there has not risen anyone greater than John the Baptist..” Matthew 11:11 .

8 John died The king was distressed, but because of his oaths and his dinner guests, he had John beheaded in the prison. Matthew 14:9-10
