Interjections! and Prepositions

INTERJECTIONS!!! An interjection is a word that expresses emotion. An interjection has no grammatical relation to the rest of the sentence!! Example: Ah, aha, oh, hurrah, uh-oh, wow, hey, ouch, yippee, yikes!

Examples Hey! Be careful on that wire! There’s a sunk somewhere, ugh! Oops! I didn’t mean to send that text. St. Dom’s made it to the playoffs! Yippee!!!

Prepositions A preposition is a word that shows the relationship of a noun or a pronoun to another word.

Commonly Used From In Into Of On By As At To With Within Without Between About Above Down Before Behind Under Toward Since Throughout Till

Examples The Saint Bernard slept near my bed. The Saint Bernard slept under my bed. The Saint Bernard slept on my bed. Everything about the beach was wonderful. Everything on the beach was wonderful. Everything except the beach was wonderful.

If you change the preposition, you change the meaning of the sentence!

More examples Last week, my Spanish class went on a field trip to Monterrey. Everyone was supposed to speak only in Spanish during the trip. As we got ready to leave, we chatted in Spanish about all of the interesting things we had seen.
