2. Conjunction A conjunction joins words or word groups. The word “and” joins the words. I like candy and cookies.

4. Correlative Conjunctions Correlative conjunctions are pairs of conjunctions both…andnot only…but also either…orwhether…or neither…nor For example: Both Lady Gaga and Adele are famous singers. Should I have either salad or cake for lunch? both and

5. Interjections An interjection is a word that expresses emotion. Aha Ouch Wow Yikes Yippee Oops Hey Hi Oops!

6. In addition… When interjections are used alone, they do NOT form a complete sentence, so in formal writing they are usually used as part of a sentence. However, interjections are not grammatically connected to the sentence. Their only function is to express emotion.

7. A few examples: Drat! I spilled my coffee! (expresses anger or annoyance) Oh dear, I’m going to be late. (expresses worry) You got 100% on the test! Wow! (expresses surprise)
