“Music expresses that which cannot be put into words and cannot remain silent” –Victor Hugo.Music expresses that which cannot be put into words and cannot remain silent Music composers speak a whole new language that everyone can understand no matter what race or religion they are. One of my piano teachers really summed up what got me interested in music. She said “One does not simply choose music. Music chooses you; and once you have been called, there is no way out.”

Choose musical pieces to be performed in front of an audience Prepare for performances by reviewing scores and interpreting them Choose soloists Audition new performers and assist section leaders with chair placements Meet with potential donors and host fundraisers

 Recording studios  Orchestras  Religious Organizations  Hours are set by each individual musician  Working mainly indoors, but concerts can be outdoors

Bachelor’s degree required for choir director. Master’s degree for ensemble and orchestra director. Composer- no specific education required, and less education means more talent. Submit works to recording studios, movie studios for admittance.

Number of people expected to attend ballets, musicals, etc. are expected to increase through Always an increase for musical composers to create new, original scores. Growth expected to be limited, as funding is expected to be limited.

$45,790 per year (median pay for May 2010 $22.10 per hour $21,720 per year (low 10%) $85,020 (top 10%)

Pay: $81,540 median per year Designs solution with medical and biological genetic problems Generally needs a bachelors degree Job growth is at 62% right now, way above the average rate of growth

I am most definitely still interested in music. I want to be able to create music that people will love to listen to, and this is the ideal job for me. To reinforce what my piano teacher said, you don’t choose music, music chooses you; and you cannot refuse the call. This is most definitely true and it really focused my perspective and goals in life towards music. My love really developed from my talent, and I am glad that it did.
