Coaching: What is it?  Help individuals improve what they do  Provide helpful, productive feedback to improve performance  Focus is helping individuals develop their own goals and strategies for achievement

Skills: Empathizing Ability  Examines how an individual creates a positive climate  Communicates and demonstrates and understanding of the other person Question: do you build a spirit of trust and sincerity to encourage growth?

Skills: Listening  Ability to hear and understand  Identify the full communication and overall intent of the person’s development Question: do you listen and understand to help with sharing of feelings and thoughts?

Skills: Confront and Challenge  Focus on identification of issues and concerns  Develop strategies to successfully address issues and concerns Question: how do you do an honest appraisal and encourage thinking and strategies?

Skills: Problem-Solving  Assess means to determine methods and means to analyze issues and concerns  Explore strategies for solutions Question: how do you help defining solutions in a logical and sequential format?

Skills: Feedback  Offer useful and constructive performance directions  Create a relationship where it is accepted and acted upon Question: how do you use counseling, support, and instruction for individual achievement?
