GEO Software & 1.3.1 Chris Jacobson Our software, GEO is used mainly by oil companies in their wellsite/operations geology workflow; as well as by service companies, such as mudlogging companies, in presenting, computing and communicating well information to the customer. In this presentation, we hope to provide a brief glimpse of how Geologix is using WITSML to provide benefits to its customers as well as show case the use of WITSML in our application, GEO> WITSML will help us and our users across the board – the following are some of the senarios in which this can be seen Chris Jacobson

WITSML Acquisition or Aggregation Server Use Case - Wellsite Geology/Mudlogging Lithology log Mudlog Drilling params log Well progress log Core analysis log Wireline log Pressure log spreadsheets documents images LAS/ASCII WITSML Acquisition or Aggregation Server GEO The wellsite geologist is charged with the responsibility of collating, quality controlling and interpreting data provided by various service companies on the rig. Rather than request the data from service companies on a floppy disk or USB key, the wellsite geologist would benefit from a standardized way of receiving vendor data into systems that s/he uses at the well site. In this model the best case would be a shared network drive GEO Document (ODF file) Mouse drawings Keyboard entries

GEO Use Case - Operations Geology GEO Document (ODF file) XML XSLT Composite log Pressure log Gas Oil Reserves Net pay Formation Tops GEO Document (ODF file) GEO XML Files XSLT In many operations, the operations geologist is responsible for receiving information and distributing reports and data to various stakeholders in the well. Use of WITSML provides an easy way to accomplish these tasks and enable the ops geologist to not only upload data to a corporate repository but also create the necessary reports in a seamless and automated manner. WITSML Datastore API

WITSML Acquisition or Aggregation Server Use Case - Remote Geology Operations Office Rig WITSML Acquisition or Aggregation Server GEO Document (ODF file) GEO In many instances where reduction of Health & Safety becomes an imperative on development wells, oil companies often choose not to send a wellsite geologist to the rig. In these operations, the function of wellsite geologist is served from the office. WITSML can aid such operations in a standardized way where data collected by service providers can be directly accessed from the office, equipped with nothing more than an Internet connection and the relevant access privileges. Where you want to take personnel away form the rig and provide expertise in house onshore XML Files XSLT

Supported WITSML Data Objects Well Wellbore Rig Rig Equipment Pump Location Units Trajectory Target Bit Record Bottom Hole Assembly Wellbore Geometry Casing Scheme Open Hole Daily Operations Fluids Report Cement Job Log Real Time Mudlog Currently, we have been busy implementing version 1.3.1 of WITSML in GEO with support for the Log and Mudlog objects. In the industry, our application is mainly used for the construction of lithology/composite logs, thus at this point in our development, we find that log and mudlog objects are adequate coverage for our users. In time to come, based on user demands, it is possible that we will support the Trajectory and Daily Operations objects.

Use of Mudlog object in GEO Finish! Start Wizard Map lithology names Select curves to load Select Well/Wellbore/Data to load Connect to Server The mudlog is created by loading log and mudlog objects directly from a remote WITSML server. This is just a demo of how the WITSML load works in our application. This slide was created in case our application fails to function!
