April 2013 Updates: School holidays fun begins!

We enjoyed a lovely visit from Sarah, Emma and Deena. Misty was especially happy to see them! The girls read Hahgoot’s stories about Super Misty and Hahgoot helped Deena with her Hebrew workbook we got her on our trip.

Alma and Misty got plenty of attention!

We enjoyed afternoon tea and dinner together

Another day in the holidays we took the train to the city and then walked to the Art Gallery of NSW to meet Bernadette, Mia and Sarah.

For Mia and Sarah it was their first trip to the big gallery and they were very excited. We were lucky to enjoy free and very fancy workbooks for the girls, that enabled them to draw, read and create around the gallery. Lovely Mia stopped at every bench and interesting artwork to copy everything she liked, which was fantastic for encouraging Hahgoot to do the same and really look at the artworks, instead of overloading on the colours. Alma, of course, had to do the same...

It was absolute pleasure exploring the gallery with the girls: they counted arms of Hindu gods at the Asian gallery (top left), peered through quirky modern sculptures in the 20 th century gallery (bottom left) and sat on every bench, drawing.

We stopped for lunch at the museum’s restaurant and then spent half an hour outdoors, playing with this “family” of sculpture creatures on the grass.

The girls had a fabulous time!

At last we managed to extract the girls from the grass area and went back in. The girls enjoyed a drawing session inside the Japanese gallery.

The sculpture of the very old woman on the chair (under the chair it is salt) was fascinating: the sculpture could breath! (the belly went up and down in a slow rhythm) The girls were terrified though intrigued. They found lots of interesting objects to draw in the contemporary gallery (left) and the Aboriginal section downstairs (right).

We stopped for afternoon tea before heading together back to Wynyard station, crossing through the fantastic Domain on the way, with its ancient trees and vast grass area. In our next presentation: Library trip and a play date with Adrian
