Communication Yesterday, we talked about the four different types of communication. Assertiveness Manipulative Passiveness Aggression Today, we are going to discuss the four steps of assertive communication.

Reference Sheet Asking Honestly For What You Want Reference Sheet Let’s read this aloud as a class.

Communication Four ways to ask assertively for what you want: State a fact or a feeling Describe what you’d like. If they say, “No”….. Ask for your second choice. If they still say, “No”…. Accept it gracefully Today, we are going to focus on the first two steps.

Class Activity The Asking Game Each student will receive a game card. There is a situation on each card. Come up with your own assertive response to that situation. Two people in class will have the same card. We will compare answers. Please be respectful and mature!

Homework Have a good weekend!! Please return your game card and response to me before you leave. We will need those cards for Monday’s class.
