USER DATAGRAM PROTOCOL  It is transport layer protocol.  Used for those applications that require prompt delivery.  Does not offer flow control and error control.  Provide Unreliable connectionless services. eITnotes.com

HYPERTEXT TRANSFER PROTOCOL  It is an application layer protocol.  Used for fetching web pages on World Wide Web.  HTTP transaction between the client and server consist of request and response. eITnotes.com

FILE TRANSFER PROTOCOL  It is an application layer protocol.  Used for transfer of file from one system to another.  Uses client/server model for communication.  Does not actually transfer a file rather copies it. eITnotes.com

SIMPLE MAIL TRANSFER PROTOCOL  It is simple ASCII protocol.  Based on client/server model.  Used for the transfer of mail message and attachments. eITnotes.com

POST OFFICE PROTOCOL  Message access protocol.  Enables the client to fetch an from the remote mail server.  Virtually all modern clients and servers support both.  Most webmail service providers such as Google Mail, Microsoft Mail and Yahoo Mail provide both an IMAP and POP3 service. eITnotes.com
