Capital Community College

INSTITUTION: Capital Community College NAMES of Team members: Janet Frost, Bharat Bhushan, and Carmen Yiamouyiannis VISION – Increase the student retention and increase level and competency of student Higher order, inquiry based Strengths: Curriculum Alignment and Course Assessment

We completed the PULSE Rubrics and determined that we need instructor independent assessment tools Use pretests in science courses that have math or science prerequisites (ie A&P) Let students know if they have the background to succeed Help instructors determine if they are meeting the course goals Develop course leaders who would hire and mentor adjunct instructors and evaluate courses

What are your short term midterm a long term outcomes : increase number of students who complete the science courses at a higher level of understanding

What activities will help you meet these goals? We will appoint course leaders who have a role in hiring, mentoring and evaluating, Adjuncts and Institute pre-test What resources will you use? We will request Administrative support and reassigned time or compensation for the course leaders

What is your timeline for planning and implementation? Present plan to the department in fall of 2015 Institute pre-test n Jan 2016

How will you assess your progress? How will you know when you reach your goal? We need to develop an assessment plan
