Using existing components design with available spare parts in the stock (TE-MSC-LMF). Longitudinal dimension increased by 3650mm compared to the present situation.

Click here to add footer 5 12th HL-LHC Parameter and Layout Committee meeting Talking into consideration all the constraints the new Q5 in insertion 6 could be integrated such as: The dilution kickers are not affected by the upgrade. The ejection lines are not affected by the upgrade. The jumper junction in between Q5L6 and the QRL will be either adapted on the service module on QRL side or most likely like with a link on top of the cryostat like for Q6L3. The new cryo-assembly design (cold mass items, vacuum vessel, service module…) uses existing components. The DFBM.5L6 could either shifted by 3.67m towards the DS or a longer link could be designed. Click here to add footer 6 12th HL-LHC Parameter and Layout Committee meeting Using the present  QRL adjustments to bring the 1.9K circuit towards the DFBA  Phase separator integration inside a non standard service module  Very interesting in terms of spare magnets and components consumption  Vigilant integration study to be performed Adding a Q7 between the DFBA and the first DS dipole  Using the “long” Q7 existing design  Replacing the 17 th junction cryostat on the left side with existing spare cold mass  Only one cold mass to assemble  No optics solutions for HL-LHC exist yet, but it could be studied  More consuming in terms of magnets and spare components Options In order to concentrate on the HL-LHC interventions in point 1&5 during LS3, the Q5 upgrade in IR6 could be planed during LS2.
