Travels in Uganda A Journey to the Human Spirit Presented by Kay Kobbe Supported by Kids for World Health And the Sandpiper Fund, Inc.

Africa…

We are born to different parts of the world, each of us with a life to live

What is it that we do share?

Children discover an injustice and lend voices to Truth

KFWH educates others about neglected diseases

Dr. Jean Jannin provides treatment to a sleeping sickness patient in Bodo, Chad

Murray Avenue KFWH Chapter sponsors a “Water Walk” to understand what it is like to carry 20 lbs. of water for one mile! KFWH speaks about its mission to the International Scientific Council on Trypanosomiasis in Uganda

The most powerful part of the journey was finding the Human Spirit…

Kids for World Health Pediatric Clinic in Lwala, Uganda

Village Life Remember me…

There are real people with stories as important as ours to share

KFWH builds “Hope, Progress, and a Feeling of not being forgotten”

To accept the setting was not enough at first to accommodate the shock of extreme poverty

Lwala Hospital

A church stands tall in the center of the compound…. providing nourishment and community

Sister Sam with her journal offers her stories

Catherine Adyango, Hospital Administrator

Lwala’s doctor Andrew Edelieu A Hospital Ward

Operating Table Scrub Sink

Ether machine Operating Equipment “ Diagnosis can be a matter of coincidence”

What is Joy?

What is fear?

What gives Hope?

What inspires?

“I wish to raise the level of my Life.” Student nurses at the hospital..

Seniors imagine an educated life with meat to eat and shoes to wear

Students sweeping the dirt in the compound

Girls weeding and digging for tubers

We are the same at the core

Millet and beans for lunch and dinner plus days of the year

Living in a thatched -roof hut….

Squatting in a hole, shared by the community…

Cooking over open fires… all gave opportunity to experience more direct empathy

A mother’s pride…a common theme that identifies us as humans.

What is our responsibility as partners in humanity?

What can we imagine for all the world’s people?

Imagine….

“Life is important for all people, rich or poor.” Kids for World Health
