10 GOLDEN RULES OF RECYCLING!
Presentation transcript:

Pollution of freshwater (drinking water) is a problem for about half of the world's population. Each year there are about 250 million cases of water- related diseases, with roughly 5 to 10 million deaths. Around 80% of the pollution in seas and oceans comes from land-based activities.

Cars are responsible for 40% to 90% of the world's air pollution. According to a study, living in a major city, places people at a higher risk than living in the radioactive zone in Chernobyl. By 2050, air pollution will kill an estimated 6 million people per year.

People throw away enough rubbish every day to fill 63,000 dustcarts. Land pollution causes people to lose 24 billion tons of top soil every year.

How can WE save OUR planet?

15 ways to help save the Earth Recycle aluminum and glass Run washing mashines only when fully loaded, but do not overload Turn off lights that do not need to be on Bring your own reusable bags to the grocery shop

Combine several small car trips into one Buy products that will last Keep doors and windows shut when the heating or air conditioning is running Defrost your freezer regularly Separate rubbish, at work and at home

Think before you print: do you really need a printout? Use mugs or glasses instead of plastic cups Choose products with less packaging Take the bus, walk or ride your bike instead of your car

Use the stairs instead of lifts Set your thermostat to about 24 to 25 degrees in summer; and to about 20 to 21 degrees in winter Turn off your computer when you are leaving for an hour or longer

When the Earth dies, where will you live?
