Jill bought 8 paintings for $230 at an estate sale. The smaller sizes were $25 each while the larger sizes were $40 each. How many of each did Jill purchase?

County fair tickets cost $36 for adults and $15 for children. If a family of 10 pays $234 for fair tickets, how many adults and how many children went to the fair?

The Johnson Farm has 670 acres of land allotted for cultivating corn and wheat. The cost of cultivating corn and wheat (including seeds and labor) is $42 and $30 per acre, respectively. Jacob Johnson has $23,100 available for cultivating these crops. If he wishes to use all the allotted land and his entire budget for cultivating these two crops, how many acres of each crop should he plant?

There are 13 animals in the barn. Some are chickens and some are pigs. There are 40 legs in all. How many of each animal are there? 6 chickens and 7 pigs
