The Ethics of Fast Food Advertising

Key Terms Ethics: a system of moral principles

Advertising What is the purpose of advertising? How does advertising work? How does it influence the consumer? (Think about some commercials that have had an impact on you) Where can you find examples of advertising? Who is most vulnerable to being influenced by advertising? Is it ethical to market products to children? How do you think marketing to very young children works?

Is this simply the fault of the parents, or does the marketing have to share some blame?

They don’t call it a “Happy Meal” for nothin’ They don’t call it a “Happy Meal” for nothin’? Is this kind of influence on kids fair and ethical?

Analyze the Marketing Techniques of the Following Ads. Name product. Give brief description of commercial. Who is the target audience of the marketing?
