Student Objectives  Students will learn why facebook and wikispaces are excellent tools of communication and learning  Students will learn how to implement the networking websites into LOTC activities

 A Collaborative and Safe Learning Environment  Invite people to your wiki with an invitation system  Great tool for cadets to share information with supervision by LOTC leaders and instructors  Use as a LOTC web site  Keep competition instructions and results  Calendar for all events  Plan major LOTC activities for the school year  Brainstorm Wikispaces

 Set Up:  Get your wiki started in under a minute  Edit and personalize your wiki immediately  Image and file uploads  Simple page linking  Watch a tour to learn how to edit your wiki  Discussion Forums Wikispaces

 Facebook Qualities:  Facebook's gives people the power to share and make the world more open and connected.  Keep the LOTC Corps of Cadets connected to work on projects, even at home  Upload an unlimited number of photos, share links and videos  Choose to share or maintain security  Brainstorm for service learning activities

 The Wall: Users can post messages and collaborate on topics  Market Place: Advertise LOTC and share competition information  Event Page: Keep all events organize and keep other cadets informed  Chatting feature: Chat with other cadets about projects, activities, etc.

Overview of Lesson  Review objectives  Students will make an organization facebook and wikispaces page with laptop and projector  Personalize the pages for LOTC  Evaluate pages to determine which is the best choice for LOTC

Conclusion  Students will understand the pros and cons of social network websites  Students evaluate facebook and wikispaces  Students will read and understand the district’s acceptable use policy
